Gull ringing project – recoveries update
Spring 2001 |
Most of you will have seen notices in previous newsletters and on various boards concerning the Lesser Black-backed Gull ringing project carried out at Tarnbrook, Ribble Marshes and Walney Island. One of the feasible birdwatching sites during the F & M is viewing the river in the area of the Golden Ball. Here you may encounter LBBGs with darvic rings, easily read with a zoom lens. Just to show you that many of these now have Life Histories which include Iberian and north-west African sightings, here is an example from Pete Crooks' observations in the Year 2000. As the birds mature, more and more will be returning from the wintering/non-breeding area, so there is a good chance that any you read may have an interesting life history
GA18144 Ringed: Tarnbrook (Bowland) Nestling 10/7/98

Please send details to Pete Crooks p.crooks@ucsm.ac.uk or the Editor so that sightings can be co-ordinated before forwarding to Dave. Thank you.
