Ibiza (This Page)

Ibiza
, 7th-14th October 2007

  • The first stop of the day at Cala Moli on a drive out to the south-west produced Eleonora’s Falcon, Blue Rock Thrush and Audouin’s Gull, then we headed for the track up to Talaia ( in search of Marmora’s Warbler)...Bob Marchant reports

Ibiza August 24-31, 2007

  • This was my second successive August family holiday in the Balearics, last year having been Mallorca, and my first ever visit to Ibiza. As both trips have involved other friends as well, I have been excused a reasonable amount of time for bird watching...Andrew Greenwood reports.

Ibiza 5th-18th June 2006

  • My hobby is bird-watching but this was a holiday for my wife and I to have a break, with me doing the birding on walks and when we hired a car out in the second week...Frank Foulger reports
Ibiza Easter 2001
  • Whenever I arrive at a new destination, I always walk the local area, first thing in the morning, keen to find out what the first bird is that I will see. This time it was Audouins Gull (x5) on the rocks by the hotel. Turtle Dove called, Thekla Lark and Sardinian Warbler showed well. Common Swifts and Yellow-legged Gull completed the morning list...John Girdley reports

The Rough Guide to Ibiza and Formentera
Iain Stewart, Martin Davies: Buy from Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk

  • Dotted around Ibiza’s dazzling shoreline are more than fifty beaches, which range from expansive sweeps of sand to exquisite, miniature coves nestling beneath soaring cliffs. Many of the best beaches were insensitively transformed into functional holiday resorts in the 1960s, but plenty of pristine places remain if you’re inquisitive enough to seek them out. Ibiza’s hilly, thickly wooded interior is equally beguiling, the countryside peppered with isolated whitewashed villages and terraced fields of almonds, figs and olives.

Recommended Travel Books for the Balearics:

The Rough Guide to Mallorca
Phil Lee: Buy from Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk

  • This Rough Guide contains some useful information for the visiting birder: There is a chapter on Flora and Fauna with special reference to the key birds. Access details for S'Albufera, walks in the Boquer Valley and Black Vultures at the Cuber Reservoir, its all here. Rough guides have never failed me before and I wasn't disappointed with this one. Quite well researched and put together in a logical manner. I Would recommend it to any one planning to visit Mallorca.
